Microbes contain Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), an indicator of biological residues that can be easily detected to measure cleanliness quickly. Unlike other methods, ATP testing is rapid, sensitive, quantitative and simple.
To measure ATP using the 3M™ Clean-Trace™ System, a collected sample is mixed with luciferase, an enzyme from fireflies, which catalyzes a reaction. The energy from this reaction creates light that’s proportional to the amount of ATP in the sample — the lighter detected, the dirtier the surface tested.
Sampling:
Walls & Ceilings
Air Conditioners
Kitchen Platform
Wash Basin
Sensitive areas, like Babies Room
